费雷德：我们现在该怎么办，圣诞节怎么办，我们拿什么买食物啊？

探讨一下哦。我觉得“one does his best” 翻译成“尽力而为吧”，或者“每个人都尽量做到自己最好的吧”比较好，这里的“one ” 指的是“每个人”的意思。只是我的看法哦。

这是我老妈听写并翻译的，中英对照，厉害吧。第一部分：

The LEGO Story
乐高的故事

You’ve probably seen one of these--- a LEGO brick.  But have you ever wondered how it all started, and why it’s called LEGO?  Actually, this name is much older than this plastic brick.  Are you curious?  Let me tell you how it all began.
你可能见过这个：乐高积木，可是你有想过乐高是如何开始的，而且为什么叫做“乐高”吗？实际上，“乐高”这个名字比这块塑料积木的历史要久得多。感到好奇吗？让我从头开始讲起吧。

Billund 1932

Many years ago, there was a skilled and hard working carpenter named Ole Kirk Christiansen.  Ole was a respected carpenter with his own company.  But times were hard so he didn’t have much money, and had to dismiss his last worker.
很多年以前，有一位技术高明而且勤奋工作的木匠，他的名字叫Ole Kirk Christiansen（奥勒）。Ole拥有自己的公司，很受大家的尊敬。但是时运不济，他没有很多钱，只好遣散他最后一个雇工。

<knock knock> 敲门声
Ole:       come on in.
奥勒：       请进。
Worker:       I’ve closed down the workshop and packed my things.
雇工：       我已经关上了工作间，也把我自己的东西收拾好了。
Ole:       Thank you.  I suppose I’d better write you a pay check.  Take care.
奥勒：       谢谢你。我想我应该给你这张支票。保重。

Ole:       Well, that was the last one.  I just didn’t imagine I would come to this.
奥勒：       好了，现在最后一个也走了。我实在没有想到自己会到这个境地。
Wife:       I know, it’s hard time to understand.  But at least now it cannot get much worse.
妻子：       我明白，这很难接受。但是至少现在再坏也坏不到哪里去了。

But it did get worse.  Shortly after, Ole lost his wife.  But Ole was a special person.  He wasn’t the type that give up, and with the responsibility of his four sons, he had to think of something.  Ole has gotten an idea, and for him, it never took long to put an idea into action.  Ole’s little invention made his boys so happy that he thought maybe he should start making toys.  Ole decided to give it a try.  Luckily, he had saved up a lot of wood from the carpentry production.  Now he used it to make toys.
但是更糟的事还是发生了。在这之后不久，奥勒失去了他的妻子。但奥勒是个很特别的人，从不轻言放弃，而且他还有四个儿子需要抚养，他必须想出新的出路。终于，奥勒有了个主意。奥勒从来不会光想不做，对他来说有了主意就马上行动。奥勒的小发明让他的儿子们十分开心，这让奥勒产生了制作玩具的念头。奥勒下决心尝试一下，还好，他在生产木器时攒了不少木料，现在正好用来制作玩具。

Time passed by, and even though Ole was a skilled carpenter and had a good eye for quality and detail, sales were very slow.  Luckily, one of his sons, Godtfred, started help out his dad after school.  Together they just barely managed to keep up the production.  Eventually, word began to spread that wooden toys of the finest quality would be made in the little shop in Billund.
时光流逝。尽管奥勒是个技术很好的木匠，而且也很注重质量和细节，玩具的销售却一直不景气。好在奥勒的一个儿子，高德福瑞德，经常在放学后替父亲帮忙。他们一起努力维持这玩具工厂。终于，凭着产品的质量，这个在Billund的玩具小工厂的口碑渐渐传开了。

One day, a man drove into town, a man who changed Ole’s future.  He was a whole seller from Fedreasia(??)
一天，一个人开车来到镇上，这个人改变了奥勒的未来。他是一个来自菲德力西的批发商。

Whole seller:I’ve heard you are making some very nice wooden toys.
批发商：       我听说你这里生产质量很好的木质玩具。
Ole:       Well, one does his best.
奥勒：       哦，我只是尽量做到最好罢了。

The whole seller was very impressed with all the wooden toys and placed a big order before he left.
奥勒的木质玩具给批发商留下了深刻的印象。他在离开前下了一张很大的订单。

Ole:       Now there is finally someone who can see the opportunities of what we are doing.
Look at this, the whole seller wants to put a lot of our toys into his stores for the holidays.
奥勒：       现在终于有人从我们做的东西中看到机遇了！看看这个，这个批发商想在他店里放很多很多我们的玩具，在节日期间销售呢。
Godtfred:       This got to be a good Christmas this year.  But it will be busy.
高德福瑞德：这是一个多么美好而又繁忙的圣诞节呀！

Now there is a lot to do with the little workshop.  And Ole can rehire his former workers.  Ole only used highest quality wood which was hand-picked and very carefully prepared.  They worked day and night to get the order finished, so the whole seller could get the toys out to stores before Christmas.
现在，这个小工作间又开始忙碌起来了，奥勒也重新雇佣了他的老工人。奥勒只选用高质量的木料，手工挑选，精工细作。他们日日夜夜地赶工，希望在圣诞之前让批发商及时地把货运到他店里。

Godtfred:       Is there something wrong, dad?
高德福瑞德：爸爸，怎么了？
Ole:       I’m afraid that we are in big trouble.
奥勒：       我们恐怕有大麻烦了。

In the middle of their work, Ole received a letter saying that the whole seller has filed for bankruptcy and couldn’t buy the toys that he had ordered.
就在他们努力工作的过程中，奥勒收到了一封信，信里说那个批发商申请破产了，他没有办法购买他预订的玩具了。

Godtfred:       What are you going to do?  What about Christmas?  Now we cannot even afford food?
高德福瑞德：现在该怎么办呢？圣诞节怎么过呢？我们现在是不是连买食物的钱都没有了？
Ole:       I’ll do it.
奥勒：       我来做吧。
Godtfred:       What are you going to do, dad?
高德福瑞德：你来做什么呢，爸爸？
Ole:       I’ll do it myself.  I will drive around selling the toys.
奥勒：       我自己来销售。我会开这车去兜售这些玩具。

There was no time to lose.  Ole packed the car with all the toys and drove off.  Ole was a very good toy maker, but was not a very good sales man.  He didn’t like praising himself or talking about how carefully the toys are made.  But he had to keep trying if he was going to sell anything.
一分钟也不能浪费！奥勒把所有的玩具装上卡车出发了。奥勒是个很棒的玩具生产商，但不是个很好的销售员，他不喜欢自卖自夸，或者吹嘘这些玩具是怎样精心制作的。但是，想要卖掉这些玩具的话，他还是得努力销售。

Ole:       This is going to be a blast.  Is there anything you are interested in?
奥勒：       这个玩具肯定会爆流行的……你感兴趣吗？
Shop Owner:It looks exciting, but I don’t have a lot of money right now.  Maybe we can trade in quad even?
买主：       它看上去很棒，但是我现在没有那么多钱。要不我们以物换物吧？
Ole:       Well, I would prefer money, but……
奥勒：       其实我更想要钱的，但是，好吧……

In the end, he succeeded in selling all the toys.  He didn’t receive as much money as he had hoped, but the family managed, and they had plenty of food for Christmas.
最后，他成功地把所有玩具都卖掉了。虽然他没有收到期望中的那么多钱，但是他的家庭维持下来了，而且这个圣诞节他们有了足够多的食物。
